2. Solarplate
is a light sensitive steel backed material used by artists as an alternative to copper etching. Printmakers, and photographers, interested in multiple impressions have found SOLARPLATE a safe and effective alternative to traditional methods of using ferric chloride. All one needs is a graphic image created on a transparent film (acetate or glass), sun or UV light, and ordinary tap water. Both positives and negatives can be utilized; intaglio and relief printing techniques can be created.

3. Relief plates
are created by carving gouges into to the surface of a material such as linoleum, or wood. Ink is then rolled onto the remaining surface of the plate and is printed on paper using an etching press. Relief printmaking is sometimes called “block printing”.
